That the Council authorize the Mayor to create a Taxi Task Force which would advise the Council on policies and procedures related to the taxi industry. 2. That Councilmembers refer at least two nominations to the Mayor within 10 days for potential appointments to this group. BACKGROUND Review of policies and procedures for the regulation of the taxi industry has been an issue raised from time to time in San José. The creation of a Taxi Task Force would provide adequate focus to a number of regulatory matters from the perspective of both the public and the industry. It is our intent to ensure a balance on this task force of taxi company owners, cab drivers, hotel and airport representatives and customers. The task force would be directed to bring its report of its review of regulatory issues back to the City Council within 120 days.
