Mayor Gonzales held his annual Volunteer Celebration
at the Plaza de Cesar Chavez Park on Saturday morning,
September 13, 2003.  The event is to recognize and 
thank the thousands of wonderful volunteers
who dedicate their time to the City of San Jose!!

 

The Mayor posed with a group of volunteers during
their lunch!!  The Mayor spoke to the huge crowd, 
"There are so many ways you add to the fabric of 
the community...You give time, your hearts and 
your expertise to provide companionship, counseling
and even tax assistance to our seniors."

 

The Mayor says hello to more volunteers!  The Mayor
said to the guests, " There are 20,000 of you serving
in 29,000 different volunteer positions!! You volunteered
more than 700,000 hours and 5,000 new volunteers 
have joined our team since just last year!!"
