“San
José is a community where
educators are respected
and valued for their
important role; preparing
our children to be
successful for the future.
Our success as a
community in the long run
will depend on the
effectiveness of teachers,
school sand families
working together to
achieve this goal.” – Mayor
Ron Gonzales
Mayor
Gonzales is committed to
making San José the most
teacher friendly city in
the nation.
Our goal is
to recruit and retain
well-trained and
experienced teachers to
improve student
achievement throughout the
City.
Nationwide
teacher shortages combined
with the growth in our
student population has
made it necessary for
cities to recruit, train
and hire excellent
teachers for our students.
With
a California State
University, numerous
private universities and
eight community colleges
within the San José
region, we give potential
teachers the access to the
information and resources
needed to earn a
credential.
Additionally
with assistance from San
José’s Future Teacher
Loan Program and our Teacher
Homebuyer Program,
financing an education and
living in this community
become as inviting as
possible.
And don’t forget
about the 300 days of
sunshine a year!
