Mayor Gonzales held his 5th Annual Volunteer Celebration on Saturday, October 9, 2004.   The Mayor celebrated and acknowledged the 20,000 volunteers that give their time to many of San Jose's volunteer programs.  The Mayor presented five commendations to those volunteers that were awarded "Volunteer of the Year"!!

Mayor Gonzales said, "Today is special to me because we get to honor you for giving your time, talent and energy to make San Jose a great place to live for all of us...as volunteers you have helped teach children to read in our libraries...keep our parks and neighborhoods clean and safe, free of graffiti and litter...enriched the lives of seniors...on behalf of our residents and City staff, thank you volunteers!"
