Mayor Gonzales is joined by Councilmember Campos; LeZotte; Williams; Chavez and Vice Mayor Dando along with Consul General Bruno Figueroa at the Mexican Independence Flag Raising Ceremony on September 16, 2004. The City of San Jose and the local Mexican Consulate raised the flags in front of San Jose City Hall.

September 16, 2004 is the 194th anniversary of the beginning of the long effort to free Mexico from Spanish colonial rule.  This day is celebrated annually by Mexico and in communities throughout the world with a strong Mexican heritage.
