Mayor Gonzales held his annual Volunteer Celebration at the 
Plaza de Cesar Chavez Park on Saturday morning, September 13, 2003.  
The event is to recognize and thank the thousands of wonderful 
volunteers who dedicate their time to the City of San Jose!!
The Mayor said to the guests, " There are 20,000 of you serving 
in 29,000 different volunteer positions!! You volunteered 
more than 700,000 hours and 5,000 new volunteers
 have joined our team since just last year!!"
