Mayor Gonzales spoke at the Vendome Place Groundbreaking on 
Wednesday, October 15, 2003.  The project will create 373 units in
downtown San Jose and is the first high rise residential community
to be built in 30 years.  Mayor Gonzales said, "Today we are here
to celebrate history in the making...San Jose has reached a crossroads in 
our history of development where we have to choose whether 
we grow out or grow up as a city, and San Jose is growing up."
