As the men and women of this country are
bravely serving in the
armed forces, we all
express
our profound
desire for their safe and
rapid return home.
We have taken steps to ensure that our
community is also prepared
here at home.
Although
the possibility
of an attack in San Jose
may be low, the need for
community awareness is
greater than ever.
Our police and fire
departments remain on high
alert, and we continue to
work closely with our
neighboring communities
and with state and federal
authorities so that
we can
do all we can to protect
the residents of our city.
We encourage residents to join in this
effort for emergency
preparedness.
Just as we all
are
familiar with the risks of
potential earthquakes in
this region, families
should review their
common
sense steps to be
prepared.
In addition, I urge residents to continue
to be alert and aware of
your surroundings, and to
report anything that seems
suspicious to the San Jose
Police Department.
Call 9-1-1 for
emergencies in progress.
If you are using a mobile
phone in San Jose, call
(408) 277-8911.
To
report non-life
threatening emergencies,
call 3-1-1, or (408)
277-8900 on a cell phone.
The San Jose Police Department has compiled
a list of useful websites
that have information
to
help our residents prepare
and answer questions
related to the current
situation.
I encourage
you to
use these sites to assist
you and your family:

San Jose is a strong community because of
our residents’
commitment to work
together and to focus on
solutions.
As we embrace our
differences and come
together based on the
values
we share, we
recognize the
contributions of all our
people regardless of who
they are or where
they
come from.
In San Jose, we
will not tolerate hate
crimes.
I’m confident that as we work together we
will achieve our common
goals for the security of
our city and nation.
Please join in my
wish for swift and safe
conclusion to this war,
and for
the speedy return
home of our men and women
in uniform.
Sincerely,
rON Ron Gonzales
Mayor
