Mayor Gonzales is pictured above at the Eastridge Mall Groundbreaking 
in San Jose's District 8 on Wednesday, December 3, 2003. Eastridge Mall 
is beginning a major renovation that will include adding an AMC 
movie complex, children’s play area, a redesigned food court, and new 
stores and restaurants.  Scheduled completion is in 2005.  The Mayor 
spoke to guests, "Think how much has changed since Eastridge first
 opened in 1971.  San Jose has become a very different place since
 then – we have grown up a lot, and we have become a cosmopolitan city.   
What hasn’t changed, however, is our community’s character.  
Innovation and adaptation remain a strong part of our city and our success."
