Mayor Gonzales attended the San Jose Police Department's Memorial and Flag Raising Ceremony on Wednesday morning, May 17, 2006.  This is an annual memorial that honors San Jose's fallen officers who have been killed in the line of duty, and those who continue to serve and protect our community. The ceremony was held at San Jose's City Hall. Inside the Rotunda there were pictures of 11 San Jose officers killed in the line of duty which is pictured above.

The Mayor said, "Today we remember those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting the people of San Jose.  Today we honor all of our police officers - past, present and future for their courage and for their dedication to our community. Eleven San Jose officers have paid the ultimate sacrifice...let us take a moment to honor these fallen officers and their families and to acknowledge the enormous debt we owe to them."
