Mayor Gonzales joined Councilmember Ken Yeager and many guests at the Billy DeFrank Center Grand Opening on Saturday, June 19, 2004. The center features a grand ballroom, private counseling rooms, health screening rooms, an expanded cyber cafe, youth and family centers and an expanded Sister Spirit Store.

Mayor Gonzales spoke to guests, "...It is great to be back here at Billy DeFrank...this center serves as an invaluable resource for people in our community...this new center will give even more to our residents by developing state-of-the-art resources that empower lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and their allies."
