Mayor Gonzales attended the Museum of Art Earthquake Commemoration Event on Tuesday evening, April 18, 2006.  The event was held at the San Jose Museum of Art and to commemorate the 1906 earthquake anniversary as well as to highlight the clock tower restoration projects.  The restoration project is a community based financed project that will restore the clock tower to its pre-1906 form.

The Mayor spoke at the event, "Thank you for being here tonight to honor the past and remember the 1906 Earthquake and its toll on the people of this region.  We are also here to celebrate the efforts to restore the Museum Clock Tower that also found itself victim of that earthquake.  I join in the hope that we make sure it can toll a new beginning for the coming century."
