Mayor Gonzales broke ground with Councilmember Forrest Williams, Dr. David Cohen, Chair of the Library Commission and Library Director Jane Light at the Edenvale Community Library Groundbreaking on Saturday, April 1, 2006.  The library will be 22,200 square feet and be located at the corner of Branham Lane and Monterey Highway.

The Mayor spoke, "The new Edenvale Library will have an Internet Cafe, a tech lab, a 100-person meeting room and community living room complete with fireplace! This library will fill a gap to provide better educational and gathering opportunities for youth and families in the Edenvale/Great Oaks community."
