Mayor Gonzales visited Joaquin Miller Middle School on
May 30, 2003.  The Mayor congratulated the school over their
public address system for having the highest API score
throughout all middle schools in California.

Students at Joaquin Miller Middle School work hard,
earning their score!! The API score stands for
"Academic Performance Index".  Eighty percent of the API
for elementary and middle schools rests on the
California Standards Tests (CST) scores.

The Mayor visited classrooms and told students,
"This is a big achievement and something everyone of you
should be proud of...your school has become a
model for every school in our community."

Mayor Gonzales said, "You have shown everyone that
schools that work hard and work together can help all
children achieve success...with education you can learn
how the world works, how you can dream
and how you can make a difference."
