Mayor
Gonzales participated in the Great American Pick Up
on Saturday, May 10, 2003. The Mayor joined residents at the
City's second annual community wide litter pick up.
Volunteers met at ten different locations throughout SanJose.

Even
the little ones are working hard to do their part!
Last year more than 750 volunteers picked up 960 bagsof litter!!

More
little ones find trash, using the grabbers provided
by the City of San Jose's Anti-Litter Program.

The
Mayor joined Councilmember Cortese and residents
of San Jose's District 8 at the Lay Va Middle School
where community members met to begin the pick up
of their neighborhood. Volunteers left bags on the side
of the mapped roads and City employees picked the
bags up throughout the morning.

The
Mayor thanked volunteers for donating their time
and energy to this very important cause.

Wow,
lots of young people were out cleaning up their
communities!! Keep up the good work!!
