Grand Opening on Saturday, May 10, 2003.  The library
is 20,000 square feet large and offers expanded room for
collections, over four times as many seats and networked
computers, a community room that
seats 100 and two group study rooms.

The Mayor told guests, "I am proud to introduce the West Valley
Branch as the first "green sustainable" building constructed
by the City of San Jose.  As we build new facilities, we must do
so with respect and concern for our environment.  This library
sets the standard not just for our environment but for learning."
