Mayor Gonzales received the "Local Elected Official of the Year"
award at the Home Builders Association of Northern California
Awards Dinner on Thursday, May 8, 2003. 

The Mayor received a very stealthy pen from the
Concrete Supply Company at the event.  The Mayor
spoke when receiving his award, "I thank the Home Builders
Association for this award.  I am honored to be selected as
the Local Elected Official of the Year...but this award really
reflects the work of many people in the City of San Jose...
it is on their behalf and on behalf of the thousands of families
who now live in what you build, that I accept this award tonight."
