Mayor Gonzales spoke at the SJPD fingerprinting program
and equipment kickoff  on December 4, 2002 at the HOPE
Rehabilitation Center in San Jose.  The program has been extended
to include at-risk adults who suffer from dementia, Alzheimer's
disease and developmental disabilities.  The extension of the free
fingerprint/DNA program to at-risk adults is the first of its kind
in the country.  The service will begin in early January 2003.

The Police Department is using a new state-of-the-art
digital computerized fingerprinting system on seniors.
The Mayor reviews the program in action.  A DNA sample
taken with an oral swab will also be collected for the records.

The Mayor takes a photo with the San Jose State University
Airforce R.O.T.C., who kindly volunteered to
direct traffic during this momentous event.
