on Thursday, April 24, 2003.

State Assemblymember Manny Diaz, Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren
and Congressman Mike Honda each spoke at the ceremony.

A large version of the stamp is displayed for viewing.
The stamp image was painted by freelance illustrator
Robert Rodriguez and features a portrait of Chavez against
a background of empty grape fields.  The portrait was
based on a 1976 photograph taken of Mr. Chavez.
