The
Mayor spoke at the 3rd Annual Disaster Resistance
Conference held at the Fairmont Hotel on Monday,
April 21, 2003. "Disaster Resistant California"
promotes public and private partnerships in an effort to
reduce the vulnerability of individual communities to
man-made and natural disasters.

A
booth in the lobby of the Fairmont. The conference
program includes local, state and federal authorities and
nationally known experts offering innovative solutions for
emergency management. The California Governor's Office
of Emergency Services is co-hosting the annual conference.

Mayor
Gonzales said, "While we struggle to adjust our lives
following the 9/11 terror attacks, risks from accidents or natural
disasters remain a possible threat to every community...emergency
responders from firemen to doctors count on the City, it's residents
and you, emergency managers to help them if disaster strikes."
