Mayor Gonzales was joined by Councilmembers Diquisto and Chavez;
Fire Chief Alarcon; Police Chief Lansdowne; City Manager
Borgsdorf and other city officials as the Mayor announced
a proposal for a San Jose Police and Fire Bond Measure.

The proposal will ask local voters at the March 2002
election to approve a bond measure to make sure police
officers and firefighters have the right tools to save lives.
The Measure would ask and improve San Jose Fire Stations,
emergency dispatch facilities, neighborhood police centers
and police and fire training facilities.

The dedication of the San Jose Firefighters Memorial
Bell took place at the event.  The bell is a memorial for
firefighters who have given their lives in the line of duty
to protect our San Jose residents.
